I didn't watch many dramas this fall, but I prefer to watch few things but good, than a lot of mediocre stuff, or things I don't care about. And the 3 dramas I've watched this season (2 japanese and one korean) were not good, they were MORE THAN GOOD.

Samurai Sensei
Takechi Hanpeita, a samurai of the Tosa domain, is about to be killed when he travels 150 years in the future, to the present time. Chaos ensues.

Believe me when I say that I expected nothing from Samurai Sensei (or Omurice Sensei, as my sister likes to call it). I saw the poster and "oh, Ryo is doing another weird drama". But I had the same thought when I saw Gomenne Seishun's poster and then *random love song starts playing*. Don't ever trust promotional posters.
Even if I didn't love this drama as much as Ryo's previous one, I enjoyed it like crazy. You know, these time-travels things are tricky. It's easy to make people laugh with them, but there's always the risk to exagerate, to overdone. Samurai Sensei made me laugh so much that my stomach hurt, while never being ridiculous or too much.

And the risk was high, putting a samurai who started a rebellion to expell foreigners from Japan in the modern times... especially in Japan, where there are things that are weird even for Japanese people. Poor Takechi.
He is such a noble man, with his samurai principles, but he was so funny??? Like there were some 'serious' moments here and there but they literally lasted 1 minute because then someone was doing or saying something stupid (and this someone was usually Takechi).

And the addiction of Kamiki playing a frivolous Sakamoto Ryoma was just the best thing ever. I'm so in love. The 6th episode, when he fights with some dudes, made my heart flutter. Ugh. Damn Sakamoto Ryoma.
Also Takechi/Ryoma ahdfasjhdfhasyfgalsjfhaks what kind of amazing ship is this.

P.S. Toranosuke is a precious jewel. I won't call the guy Tsujimoto kun anymore, from now on he's Toranosuke.
Also!!!! Oshinari Yuugo! Here he plays once again the bad guy I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. When I saw him I legit made a noise because come on. He always plays the bad/crazy guy because he has an evil-looking face OR he has an evil-looking face because he always play the bad/crazy guy??

Okitegami Kyoko no Biboroku
Kakushidate Yakusuke, played by Okada Masaki, is the most unlucky guy ever: his luck is so bad that he's always mistaken for the culprit of some evil act, to the point that he can't even keep a job because he always get fired for a reason or another. The police knows him well because he's always entangles in crimes, while being completely innocent. His luck is so bad that one day he's mistaken for the culprit (again) and in his help arrives a private detective, Okitegami Kyoko. His luck is so bad that he falls in love with that detective, which is beautiful, clever and witty, and has just one, little, fault: her damn memory resets at the damn end of every single damn day. Girl falls asleep and it doesn't matter if she lived the most amazing day with Yakusuke, it doesn't matter if she falls in love with him (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) because she JUST. FORGET. EVERY. SINGLE. THING.
Can you feel my frustration. Can you feel my despair.

Watching the second season of Legal High (which you all should watch, by the way), I really liked the chemistry between Okada Masaki and Aragaki Yui; I somehow shipped their characters, as much as someone can ship her character with someone who isn't Komikado sensei. They were cute. Then, the end of the drama ruined all my fantasies.
I wanted a drama where they were together. I wanted to see them become a cute couple and being adorable together. Okitegami Kyoko no Biboroku gave this to me, to a certain extent. Yakusuke and Kyoko were really cute together, their chemistry was amazing and they gifted us with so many fun and endairing moments. BUT MY HEART. MY POOR HEART. My heart can't take all this frustration and the sadness over seeing Yakusuke being happy to just... be with her, even if not in a relationship.
And the last episode! I'm sad.

It's not a sad drama, tho. It's really cute and a lot of fun too. I believe Yakusuke will manage to regain her trust and affection once again ;_;
But I want a second season! Or at least a special.

Reply 1988
Ah, the Reply series. Will it ever stop hurting my heart.
This time, the drama starts from 1988, and talks about the 5 families that live in the Ssanmundong neighborhood.
As always, this series gives me so many feelings... but I'll start by the few things I didn't like. There will be spoilers about who the husband of the main character is (yes, they did the who's-the-husband-thing once again :[ ), so if you want to watch the drama without knowing it, don't read.
In the previous 2 series, you knew who the husband was. It was... maybe not obvious, but easy to see. This time, they spent the first half of the drama making us think that the husband would have been Jung Hwan: there were so many moments between him e Duk Seon, he liked her so much, and at some point she liked him too. But. He never confessed, in part because he didn't want to hurt Taek's feelings, in part because HE'S A DAMN COWARD. I liked Jung Hwan. I liked him a lot. And I think the writers did him wrong. I don't know if Taek was going to be the husband from the very beginning or the writers changed their mind at some point, seeing how the actor who played him was becoming popular, but still, they did very wrong to Jung Hwan, making him have less and less screentime, to the point that in the last 2 episodes his appearance looked more like a cameo, and his scenes weren't even about him. I didn't like this.

I mean, even if I liked Jung Hwan more, I'm okay with Taek being the husband, because he's such a puppy and I wanted him to be happy. Also him e Duk Seon are cute together. But... they got together in the 19th ep??? We didn't see anything of them as a couple, we somehow guessed that she was starting to have feelings for him around the 17th/18th ep, they got together and... nothing. A brief wedding proposal and nothing! In the last episode they don't tell us what important characters like Jung Hwan and Dong Ryong are doing/will do in the future, we briefly see the main couple, 2 hours of episode all focused on Duk Seon's sister wedding???? Like??? Make me see at least the main couple????
I think they badly managed their time in the last 2 episodes. And they did it dirty to both Jung Hwan and Dong Ryong.

But still. STILL. This was the best Reply series.
It doesn't have so much romance, actually. Yes, there are some things here and there that will make your heart race, but if you don't really care about Bo Ra x Sunwoo (like me. They were okay with their families and friends, but I didn't care about them as a couple) there's not that much.
What makes this drama so good are THE FAMILIES. Five families (even if Dong Ryong's one is showed that much, sadly) all different, all precious. The relationships between the adults, between wives and husbands, between parents and children... they were beautiful. I cried more than once because some moments were just too precious ;_; I loved the weird Kim family, the lovely little Jin Joo, the pillars of the show Song Dong Il and Lee Il Hwa, and MISTER CHOI. I loved Mister Choi so much.
I loved the beautiful friendship of the 'gang'. The five idiots of Ssanmundong had the most beautiful friendship, seriously.
And the OST was so on point for the whole show! So many nostalgic pieces, I'm in tears.
So yeah, the ending was rushed, my heart hurt for my fave (;_;) but I miss them all already ;____;
(also the members of the cast have such a cute relationship I'm???????!!!!!!!! LOOK AT THESE 2 PUPPIES)
