First, a little bit of fangirling, ok?
1) On Mukai Osamu's blog: 'Yesterday, with Parakisu team, I went to shooting VSArashi'
So, that means... Arashi + God Mukai Osamu (and also, maybe, Yamamoto Yusuke and Kaku Kento?? I suppose so, since they're quite important character in the movie). Putting aside the fact that I can't wait to see Paradise Kiss live action (give a look here at the trailer!), now I also can't wait to see this VsArashi episode. WA *ç*
2) Last 10 minutes of 4th episode of 'Inu wo Kau etc etc'......... Ryo, you're a wonderful creature. I'm watching this drama with my sister, so we were fangirling like two idiots (obviously, our parents weren't at home XD)
Then, to the main topic. I've watched Toma's movie 'Hanamizuki' few weeks ago, but I hadn't writing anyhing about it yet O_O
2005 - Canada
A beautiful Japanese woman who speaks English fluently is alone on an autobus. When a child asks her where she's going to, she answers:
'A lighthouse. The place where I'm meant to be'
1996 - Hokkaido
One morning, because of a malfunction on a train, Kohei (Ikuta Toma) and Sae (Aragaki Yui) meets each other.
Kohei attends a school for fishermen, Sae studies for the entrance examinations for Tokyo Waseda University. Despite being so different, they fell in love.
But they soon have to be separated, because Sae is admitted to Waseda and she has to move to Tokyo.
Being separated is hard for both, and is difficult to mantein a long distance relationship. When Kohei, for Christmas Eve, goes to visit Sae, it seems to him that she's become a completely different person. But after a while he understands that she's the usual Sae who he loves so much.
However, they're two too different person: Kohei's dream is to become a fisherman like his father, Sae's one is to work in America. At some point, inevitably, their paths split.
Like Kohei says: 'Ever since the beginning, I have never been in Sae's future'
Years pass, and their lifes have changed: they have both found a new love, and Sae lives in New York.
One day they meet again during a friend's wedding; at the beginning the atmosphere is tense, but at the end they manage to have a proper talk. Maybe between them there's still something, but they don't give it importance.
If at the beginning of the movie Kohei seems carefree and without too many troubles, while Sae has to study hard for the exam, now everything has changed: Kohei's life is nearly ruined, while Sae's one seems to be nearly perfect.
Until both their partners abandon them, and they're lonely once again.
We come back to 2005, where Sae finally arrives to the lighthouse she was searching, in the city where she was born. Here, unexpectedly, she finds in a shop window the scale model of the boat Kohei gave her as Christmas present...
And she understands that she can't lose him.
Talking about love stories, usually I prefer the ones more 'fizzy', we can say; I'm a fan of baka-couples, so stupid and cute XD
BUT I love this movie, the troubled relationship between the two protagonists. At a first look, maybe Sae seems the coldest between them, the one who is less involved in the relationship, but I don't think so; maybe Kohei is more naive, more passionate, but it would be stupid trying to say who was more in love.
Even if they were so different from each other, but at the end they couldn't be separated. Over all those years they were distant, they've liked other people, but they've always loved each other :)
Unexpectedly... am I a romantic person??? XD
Btw I liked this movie a lot, and Toma was... just perfect *_*
