Yesterday were released the softsubs for Ohoku!!
After lunch I had decided to study, but.... I couldn't resist (so I studied at night O_O)
I was waiting for this movie for ages, and finally... it's here, in my computer. I'm so happy XD
And it's beautiful. So, so, so beautiful!
Tokugawa period: 3/4 of the male population of Japan have been killed by a desease that only affect men, so the country is run by women. Shogun is a woman too, and she lives into the Ohoku, with 3000 men at her service.
Ninomiya Kazunari is the brilliant interpreter of Mizuno Yunoshin, a man good with the sword and in love with Nobu (Maki Horikita), his childhood friend. Mizuno is very aware of the shortage of men in his country, so he often sleeps with other women to give them the hop of becoming pregnant; unlike other men, he never asks for money in return of his 'services'. In order to help economically his family, Mizuno decides to give up his love, his identity, everything, and enter into the Ohoku at Shogun's service.Sohe discovers a world with a strong hierarchical structure, where only few men are admitted to Shogun's sight; is a 'dark' world, full of envy, jealousy, fierce competition to get a comfortable position in the hierarchy. With his slightly unconventional ways, Mizuno soon attracts his superiors'attention and the envy of many: so his climb in the hierarchy begins, until the day he'll become the only one to be noticed by the new Shogun.
Mizuno is a beautiful character: he's strong, good-hearted, judicious; he does not esitate to put his life on the line for what he thinks is right. Even in the most difficult moment, his first thought goes to his family. He's a wonderful man who faces his fate with courage.
O-Nobu Yoshimura - the Shogun (Shibasaki Kou): after the death of the previous Shogun, a 7 years old girl, the new Shogun becomes Nobu Yoshimura, a very strong woman, whose main concern is the fate of her country. She doesn't like Ohoku's sistem, and she isn't interested in the men who are there; however she can't help but to be impressed by Mizuno's strong presence.
I like her a lot, she was so damn cool from the begin until the end.
Matsushima (Tamaki Hiroshi) and Fujinami (Sasaki Kuranosuke): ok, I've liked them for the most of the movie. They were 'friendly' (if we can use this word..), and always very nice to Mizuno. TOO nice, maybe. They have disappointed me so much... at the end the only thing they cared about was power. u_u
Tsuruoka (Ohkura Tadayoshi): maybe everyone think that he's a bitch, that he's hateful or, worse, pitiful. But I'd like to say few words about him, because I love this character. He's confident about his ability with the sword, and, most important, about his beauty, that allowed him to gain a privileged position near Matsushima. He doesn't like Mizuno from the very beginning, and he arrives at the point to hate him when Mizuno, with only one sword fight, makes him lost everything.
I love his bitchiness, his nasty behaviour, and his his immeasurable pride that drove him to do the craziest of gestures.
I think that I could watch this movie thousand of times, and never get tired of it. I've waited to seeing it since it was announced last year, and it really didn't disappointed mu expectations. I have no words to describe how wonderful was and how much I loved it. The plot, the scenography, the costumes, the soundtrack, the characters, the actors... it was all amazing.
And I don't know anymore what I could say about Nino, because every time I see him acting I like him more: he's really an amazing actor.
And I talk about another one of my biases, Ohkura. This was the 2nd time I've seen him acting (the first one was 8UPPERS), and I think he's very good; I like his way of acting, and I'm really looking foward for his spring drama!
And a special mention also for Maki Horikita, because she's always good, always cute, and because I like her a lot ♥
